SK1900-OF - MARINE (SOPEP) OIL SPILL RESPONSE KIT

Regulation 37 of MARPOL Annex I requires that oil tankers of 150 gross tonnage and above and all ships of 400 gross tonnage and above
carry an approved Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP).

As a part of this contingency planning, vessels under 400’ require a 7 barrel (11OOL) Marine Spill Kit.
Vessels over 400’ require a 12 barrel (1900L) Marine Spill Kit.
These spill kits contain a variety of oil only absorbents and PPE for addressing shipboard spills.

Oil Spill Kits to meet the requirements of IMO A

535/13 and OPA of 1990, section 4202. To meet the regulation it is recommended that vessels of 122mtr and less shall have

sufficient equipment of sorbent materials to handle removal of 7 barrels (1100 litres) of oil while larger vessels must be equipped to remove 12 barrels (1900 litres) of oil. In-land oil barges must be able to deal with at least 1 barrel (159 litres of oil).

For compliance with MARPOL 73/78, Annex 1, Regulation 37 which requires every oil tanker of 150 tons gross and above, and every ship of 400 tons gross and above to carry a SOPEP, approved by the Administration. The plan contains useful check lists covering various oil spill and pollution scenarios. Requires basic ship specific information to be inserted by ships staff in order to satisfy the above MARPOL regulations.
