MGC Pump

Part# MGC-IR-PUMP

A New Option in Portable Gas Detection

Twice a day, every day… that’s how often you have to charge most portable gas detectors, until now. Introducing the Multi Gas Clip Pump (MGC Pump) from Gas Clip Technologies, the only portable multi gas detector with an internal sampling pump that can go an entire work week without a charge.

A Long-Lasting Family Tradition

The MGC Pump follows in the long line of portable gas detectors by Gas Clip Technologies that last and last and last. Being able to go a long time between charges is a family tradition.

The Secret to a Long Life

Like our MGC, the MGC Pump uses low-power photometric technology to detect combustible gases (LEL) rather than age- old pellistor technology. The MGC Pump uses an IR source which conserves power and helps the battery last and last.

Ergonomic Design Makes for a Good Fit

The MGC Pump is also designed for comfort. The reduced, sloping shape of the holding area at the bottom of the instrument makes the MGC Pump a comfortable fit in the hands of your workers. It is fully submersible and simple to operate. The MGC Pump offers a one button design and the largest LCD screen in the industry so it’s easy to read.

Calibrate the MGC Pump Once Every 12 Months

Other multi gas detectors require calibration anywhere from 1 to 3 months. The MGC Pump can go 12 months without being calibrated. This is an added benefit of IR sensing technology because IR is immune to pellistor sensor poisons such as silicone or H2S.

  • 5 day battery life (continuous run time)
  • 1 year calibration cycle
  • Will work in inert environments, no need for oxygen
  • capable of detection of flammable gases and vapors in inerted environments
  • Pull from over 75 feet
  • Stainless steel inlet

WSH, 27 November 2020:

Employers, principals and contractors performing similar work are advised to put in place the necessary controls to protect workers when working with inert gases (e.g. argon). The use of inert gases in a confined space (the adjoining pipe in this case) may inadvertently create an asphyxiation hazard. Communicate to workers the dangers of working with inert gases. Establish and implement a work procedure for the safe application of inert gas in preparation for welding works. Avoid the use of inert gas wherever possible. If inert gas must be used, equip workers with a portable gas detector to detect the lack of oxygen and/or presence of toxics/flammables depending on the work environment. Advise workers never to insert their head into a confined space so long as the atmosphere within is not certain.

WSH, 24 May 2021, Ref: 2122015

The WSH (Confined Spaces) Regulations 2009 spells out clearly all the safety requirements for work in confined spaces. These include:

• A Permit-To-Work system for confined space entry is in place.

• The confined space has been sufficiently ventilated and tested safe by a confined space
safety assessor who has undergone the WSQ Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry
   and Work course.

• Workers entering the confined space have undergone the WSQ Perform Work in
   Confined Space Operation course.

• At least one of the workers inside the confined space is equipped with a portable gas
monitor to continuously monitor the level of oxygen or other harmful gases inside
   the confined space.

• A confined space attendant is stationed outside the confined space.

• An emergency response and rescue plan is in place.

Employers are reminded to adhere to the above life-saving requirements.

*Compliance To IMO & MPA Circular MSC1./Circ. 1477 dtd 9 Jun 2014

1. The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime

Organisation (IMO) adopted SOLAS regulation III/19.3.6.2.3 relating to enclosed

space entry and rescue drills, by Resolution MSC.350(92). The Merchant Shipping

(Safety Convention) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2014 which gives effect to the

Resolution entered into force on 1 January 2015.

2. The MSC at its ninety-third session confirmed that regulation III/19.3.6.2.3

does not introduce carriage requirements for atmosphere testing instruments for

enclosed spaces.

3. The MSC at its ninety-fourth session, in adopting Resolution MSC.380(94)

recognised the need to implement the new SOLAS regulation XI-1/7 early in order to

expedite the carriage of portable atmosphere testing instruments. MSC/Circ.1485

invited SOLAS Contracting Governments to voluntarily implement SOLAS regulation

XI-1/7 to ships under their flags, as soon as practicable, taking into account that the

entry-into-force date of the corresponding amendment to SOLAS is 1 July 2016.

4. In view of the testing of atmosphere of enclosed spaces is critical for the safe

entry by ship crew and the carriage of portable atmosphere testing instrument

introduced by regulation XI-1/7 is essential to satisfying the requirement of regulation

III/19.3.6.2.3, the Director of Marine has decided to implement regulation XI-1/7

early. Singapore registered ships to which chapter I of the Merchant Shipping (Safety

Convention) Regulations apply, shall implement regulation XI-1/7 as soon as

possible but not later than 1 July 2015.

5. Shipowners should take into consideration MSC.1/Circ.1477 “Guidelines to

facilitate the selection of portable atmosphere testing instruments for enclosed

spaces as required by SOLAS regulation XI-1/7”, when selecting portable

atmosphere testing instrument for enclosed spaces as required by regulation XI-1/7.

One of the many dangers onboard ship is the presence of gas in enclosed spaces. Using a 4 gas monitor can protect your workers in any environment by assessing the four main gases Oxygen (O2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Methane (CH4), or other combustible gases you're checking for.

4 in 1 Gas Detector Singapore

The 4 in 1 Gas Detector has a wide range of optional sensors that allows you to measure, analyse and log these gas elements and a variety of other parameters with only one device. These four functions in one probe measures combustibles LEL (Lower Explosive Limit), O2 (Oxygen), H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide) and CO (Carbon Monoxide). It is ideal for monitoring the concentration of the different types of gases. These four sensors are integrated and are easy to operate. It is user-friendly as the results are displayed on the screen.

Purpose of the 4 in 1 Gas Detector

The capability of the 4 in 1 Gas Detector is to detect LEL, O2, H2S and CO by using only one device. This gas detector is reliable and durable only if regular servicing, careful handling and maintenance are carried out.  Most suitable to use in confined spaces to sense if there is any leakage.

Though the 4 in 1 gas detector had been calibrated at the factory, however, it is advisable to calibrate it before use to ensure proper functioning which results in getting accurate readings.

Portable 4 in 1 Gas Detector

The portable 4 in 1 gas detector detects LEL, O2, H2S and CO. It is simple to operate with one button operation and does a self-test upon activation. It is lightweight and mini but equips with all the functions. Reads with high accuracy and reliability, it is easy to carry to confined spaces and remote areas. It conserves energy and can go a full 2 months without a charge. The alarm comes with three modes of visual, audio or vibrate. Easy maintenance and calibrate once every 6 months.
