Inspection Guidelines & RegulationsIn Singapore, Full-Body Harnesses (FBHs) must comply with strict Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Work at Heights (WAH) guidelines to ensure worker safety
- Pre-Use Checks: Must be visually inspected by the wearer before every use.
- Formal Inspections: Must undergo a formal, documented competent person/manufacturer inspection at intervals not exceeding 6 months. For harsh or heavy-use environments (e.g., construction, marine), 3-month intervals are recommended.
- Lifespan: Depending on manufacturer recommendations, harnesses generally have a lifespan of up to 5–10 years from the date of manufacture, provided they pass regular inspections.
- Post-Fall: Any harness that has arrested a fall must be immediately withdrawn from service and destroyed.
4.7 Inspection of Personal Protective Equipment
• All PPE shall be inspected before every use.
• All equipment must be scrapped if the stress indicator or warning system has been activated.
