The RUP 502 is a lifting and lowering device with a handle for attaching a winch to the tripod leg.The winch is equipped with a six-stranded steel rope with a natural fiber core of 20 and 25 m in length and 6.3 mm in diameter.
RUP 502 is an element of rescue equipment.Using the device, an injured person can be raised from a lower level to a higher level or lowered from a higher level to a lower level.The lowering distance must not exceed 2 m. The gear used in the mechanism allows to perform one drum rotation per 5 turns of the winch crank.
The crank arm has 2 length options allowing the user to adjust the torque depending on the selected variant.The RUP 502 series evacuation device complies with the EN 1496/B norm.

To inspect a tripod winch (such as the TM-9/RUP-502), you must perform both a pre-use check (before every shift) and a periodic inspection (every 12 months) by a competent person. Never use a winch that is damaged, overdue for inspection, or has ever been subjected to a fall arrest.

Follow this checklist to inspect your winch thoroughly:

1. Pre-Use Visual & Functional Check

To be performed by the user before each task. 

• Cable/Rope: Fully extend and check for kinks, crushing, bird-caging, broken wires, or chemical/heat damage.
• Safety Markings: Look for the red safety sign near the end of the cable (indicating 3 remaining wraps). Never allow the working rope to fully unwind from the reel.
• Crank & Drum: Rotate the handle to ensure it turns smoothly. Test that the brake engages instantly when you stop cranking.
• Mounting Bracket: Check that the winch is securely fastened to the tripod leg with no loose bolts or bent pins.
• Snap Hook: Ensure the gate opens fully, closes automatically, and the locking mechanism locks securely. 

2. Periodic & Annual Inspection

To be performed at least every 12 months by a trained, competent individual. 

• Check the logbook: Verify that the last 12-month inspection is documented on the device's identity tag.
• Component integrity: Check the casing for severe dents, cracks, or corrosion.
• Manufacturer Recertification: After 5 years of use, the device should be inspected and serviced by the manufacturer or an authorized representative. [

3. Immediate Decommissioning
