A wide variety of models from different manufacturers are available to meet the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), known as “96SOLAS”. They are furnished with standard equipment and additional features as the customer pecifies, such as Deck Cradle, Hydrostatic Release, etc. An exceptionally rugged construction supplied in glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) containers. There are two types of inflatable liferaft mainly used on board, Throw-over type and Davit-Launching type. Throw-over type can be launched manually or by securing the tow line to a strong point on deck and throwing the container overboard. When the tow line is pulled taut, an integral CO2 gas cylinder is ctivated which inflates the boarding step, buoyancy chambers and canopy support. Davit- Launching type is obliged to use for either Port or Starboard side on Bulk Carriers since 2007, lowering down by davit and inflate manually by pulling the tow line. Every liferaft shall be serviced at intervals not exceeding 12 months. Throw overboard liferafts are designed to be used as independent units or as part of evacuation systems. They can be stored almost anywhere on racks and ramps, saving valuable deck space and causing minimal disruption to sea views which is important for passenger ships.

Liferafts are packed in sturdy containers that makes them especially durable, resistant to water ingress and makes them faster and easier to service.
